We’re happy to announce that the 4K Download team has released version 25.2.0 of 4K Video Downloader Plus, packing in a set of changes that improve usability, accessibility, and the logic behind how content is parsed and handled. Let’s take a closer look at what you can expect in the release!
Original Audio Track Selection Is Now Free
One of the standout changes is that the ability to select the original audio track has become free for all users. It was previously a premium-only feature, but now, the tool lets everyone choose original audio during download with fixes to prevent issues when no default track is set.
Smarter Language Choice for YouTube Content
The update also introduces smarter handling of language preferences. Video titles now match the system language, and paid users benefit from tighter integration with YouTube settings, specifically if the language is selected within the built-in browser. Audio tracks follow the same logic unless the user is logged in to YouTube. In this case, playback history determines the language.
Another improvements is that a new “Default” subtitle setting has been added, which automatically picks the most relevant language. We hope this is a useful change for those downloading playlists and/or channels or using Smart Mode!
Control Panel Is Now Redesigned
The Control Panel has also received a refresh. It has a cleaner layout with more intuitive navigation, so it's now easier to manage settings and preferences.
Other Updates & Improvements
There are also updates that improve user control and reduce friction.
-
You can now choose to display AV1/VP9 formats even when H.264 is available, but only if Smart Mode is turned off. More than that, license keys are now visible within the app.
-
Accessibility hasn't been overlooked either. The 25.2.0 release includes early-stage improvements in keyboard navigation and support for screen readers. Localization refinements clarify UI elements like “Remove” and “Delete File,” while also introducing better Italian translation and support for Tibetan subtitles.
-
The app now behaves more consistently: playlist and channel items are shown in the correct order in Smart Mode, and UI elements like context menus and dropdowns respond more quickly and reliably. A crash related to database loading has also been resolved.
-
And last but not least is the update which addresses several parsing issues. YouTube Music channels previously capped at 100 items can now be fully processed. Besides, the app handles shared Facebook links better as well as BiliBili audio, and some rare cases that led to endless parsing loops. Parsing of YouTube links has generally been made more robust.
Ready to enjoy the update? The new version is available now on the official 4K Download website!
