A few weeks ago, we released the new version of 4K Video Downloader Plus and enabled selection of the original audio track even on free plans, added smarter language choice for YouTube content, and introduced the Default subtitle setting.
In this blog post, we’d like to shed more light on these improvements and show you how exactly you can get the most out of 4K Video Downloader Plus when it comes to the right choice of a video title, subtitles, and audio tracks.
How to Download YouTube Videos with Original Audio Tracks
Original audio track selection isn’t a novelty per se, but now it’s available to all users for free. You can choose the Original option when picking up an audio track, no matter what you’re downloading: a single video, an entire YouTube channel, playlist or search results within the in-app browser.
Here’s how it works.
Manual Mode
- Open 4K Video Downloader Plus.
- Find a video you want to download.
- Copy the video URL and click Paste Link.
- Choose the video/audio quality, codec, frame rate, and container.
- Head over to the Audio tracks option and choose Original.
The automatically selected option is Default, which depends on your system language (free users), the language you set for YouTube in the in-app browser (Premium license users without login), or playback history (logged-in Premium license users). We cover this in more detail below.
- Press Download to save the video with the original audio track to your computer.
Smart Mode
If you’d rather use Smart Mode, here’s what you should do:
- Open 4K Video Downloader Plus on your device.
- Head over to Smart Mode and toggle it on (if not yet).
- Find the Download tab and click on it.
- Select Audio tracks -> Original.
- Adjust other downloading parameters if needed (format, quality, subtitles language, and output folder).
- Copy the link of the YouTube video you want to save and click Paste Link.
The video will be saved on your computer with its original audio track. Pro plan users can also download a video with both Default and Original tracks.
In the example above, we showcase how it works when saving a single YouTube video but downloading YouTube channels, playlists, and search results with the original option selected are also possible.
If you prefer to download YouTube content from the in-app browser, the course of action is the same except that you go straight to the in-app browser instead of copying and pasting its link.
Smarter Language Choice for YouTube Content: What Changed?
Basically, under the “smarter language choice” we imply the Default option that automatically matches the video’s title, subtitles, and audio track to your system or YouTube language set in the 4K Video Downloader Plus browser.
We added this feature to fix cases where video titles didn’t match your language settings, like when a Japanese video showed an English title in 4K Video Downloader Plus, even if your software language was set to Japanese.
The steps below vary slightly depending on your license type (Free or Premium) and whether you're logged into YouTube in 4K Video Downloader Plus's in-app browser. Now that you know it, you can jump right to the guide you need.
How to Make Sure 4K Video Downloader Plus Selects the Right Language by Default
If You’re a Premium User Logged In to YouTube
- Default audio track is selected based on your playback history.
- Video title and subtitles depend on the YouTube language set in the in-app browser.
If the wrong language is selected for the audio track, do the following:
- Open the video in a browser where you’re logged in to the same YouTube account.
- Play the audio track in the language you want for a few seconds.
- In 4K Video Downloader Plus, make sure you're logged into YouTube (Control Panel -> Log In).
- Paste the video link and download as usual (Manual or Smart Mode).
> If you use the Manual Mode, click Paste Link and select the video quality, container, codec, frame rate and output folder.
> If you use Smart Mode, adjust all the settings you need (content format, audio tracks language, quality, subtitles language, and output folder). Then, click Paste Link.
- Download the video.
If the title and/or subtitles are still in the wrong language, change the YouTube language in the in-app browser and try again (check the video instruction below).
If You’re a Premium User Logged Out of YouTube
For you, language settings are based on the YouTube interface language in the in-app browser.
- Open 4K Video Downloader Plus.
- Make sure your system or YouTube language in the in-app browser matches the expected language of the video title, subtitles, and audio track.
Note that changing the language within the in-app browser requires logging in to your YouTube account.
- Find the YouTube video you want to download and copy its URL.
- Close the in-app browser and paste the link to download the video (Manual or Smart Mode).
> If you use the Manual Download window, click Paste Link and select the desired quality, format, frame rate, and output folder.
> If you use Smart Mode, click the Download tab to select the type of content you want to save and choose Default as the audio track language and subtitles.
The default language of the video title, subtitles, and audio tracks will be automatically selected to match your system or in-app YouTube language.
- Click Download to save the video on your device with the right title, subtitles, and audio track.
The video will be downloaded on your computer with the language options you’ve selected.
If You’re a Free User
For free users, all language settings for the video title, subtitles, and audio track depend on your system language: just make sure it matches your preferred language and download as usual.
Default Subtitles Option: New Feature You Should Try
In both Smart Mode and Manual Download Mode, you can now select the Default option in Subtitles to download the video with subs in the same language as the title. This selection is available regardless of whether you’re logged in to YouTube or not.
But note that it works only for those videos that already have subtitles!
Here’s how it would look when using the Manual Download window.
But the Default subtitle selection is especially useful when using Smart Mode or downloading playlists and channels, when you don’t know the full list of available subtitles in advance:
The latest updates to 4K Video Downloader Plus provide you with more control over the language of your downloaded YouTube videos than ever, from title and subtitles to entire audio tracks. No matter if you're on a free or paid plan, using Smart Mode or Manual Mode, these new Default settings make sure the content you download looks and sounds the way you expect.
Try it out and tailor your downloads to your language preferences with just a few clicks.
