The 4K Video Downloader that you’re currently using will be supported as long as it’s technically possible. You can use both 4K Video Downloader and 4K Video Downloader+. However, you should remember that you need separate licence keys for those apps (we'll touch on that below).

Why We Launched 4K Video Downloader+

We released 4K Video Downloader ten years ago and have been developing it through all these years. The technology stack we’re using no longer allows us to improve it further, promptly fix bugs, and add the features you ask us to. This is why we initially built 4K Video Downloader 5.0 Beta with the new UI and a few novel features, using other technologies. This beta turned into a feature-complete, separate product—a better version of 4K Video Downloader that we’ve named 4K Video Downloader+.

The technologies we’re utilising to build and support the new app let us improve, not just maintain the current level. This is why 4K Video Downloader+ was born.

4K Video Downloader vs. 4K Video Downloader+ — All Features You Love + a Plethora of New More

If you’ve used the beta version we rolled out last year, only a few things feel different, but for those of you who now use 4K Video Downloader 4.24 and older versions, the brand-new app opens a myriad of changes and modifications.

Let’s dive deeper into those and see what 4K Video Downloader+ brings.

Redesigned Interface

A new sleek interface is what you see when opening the app.

From there, you can log in to your YouTube account, check important notifications and updates, access preferences, or activate the licence key by pressing the Control Panel icon.

More handy access to Smart Mode (which became even smarter!) and the in-app browser, which is a complete novelty, are now also available.

But don’t rush to assume it’s all about the look, as 4K Video Downloader+ is stuffed with a plethora of useful functionality.

In-App Browser with Built-In Search

Now, you can search and download content from all popular sites without leaving the app and opening a line of browser tabs! To make it work, just click on the site icon and choose a video or enter a search query to find one. Then simply press Download.

The in-app browser also allows you to save content that used to be unavailable to download without logging in. Some videos are now even downloaded in a higher quality than 4K Video Downloader could offer; for example, Bilibili videos, which you often ask us about.

This is now possible because you need to log in to Bilibili in order to download high-quality clips, but 4K Video Downloader allows you to log in to YouTube only. 4K Video Downloader+, however, broadens the possibilities and thus, allows you to download more content.

More Sources to Download Content From

With 4K Video Downloader+, you have extended access to private content. This is also thanks to the in-app browser and the ability to log in within the application. Now, you can save private videos and playlists not only from YouTube but also from Facebook, Vimeo, Bilibili, and many other sites.

The ability to download different kinds of content from YouTube hasn’t gone anywhere, though. Your favourite functionality to download YouTube playlists, channels, subtitles, Shorts, YouTube Gaming, and YouTube Kids remain.

Easy Downloads Management

The main application window now has tabs that filter content by type – Video, Audio, Playlists, Channels, Subscription, and All, as well as by name and date.

What’s more, 4K Video Downloader+ exports the downloaded files and subscriptions as a single JSON file instead of two separate CSV like 4K Video Downloader does. The implementation of JSON allows us to improve the export/import feature further.

An Even Smarter Smart Mode

You’ve already familiar with Smart Mode, but in 4K Video Downloader+, it has a refined version.

Now, Smart Mode is a header menu that you can turn on and off with a single switch. When Smart Mode is on, you can set the desired parameters before the downloading starts: just pick the required media type, quality, system, and output folder from the lists to unlock a seamless experience.
