How to Fix No Sound or Image in Downloaded Files
If your downloaded videos from 4K Video Downloader Plus have no sound, no image, or won’t play at all, this issue is usually related to the video codec used in the file. Here’s how you can quickly resolve it and ensure your videos play correctly.
Why This Happens
4K Video Downloader Plus saves videos in the original format provided by the source site and doesn’t convert files. Supported platforms often offer videos encoded with different codecs, most commonly:
H.264 — Supported by nearly all modern media players and devices.
AV01 — A newer, more efficient codec, but not yet widely supported by many media players.
If you download a video using the AV01 codec, you may experience missing sound, no image, or playback errors in standard media players.
What to Do
- Select the H.264 codec before downloading. For best compatibility, always choose the H.264 codec before downloading your video. If Smart Mode is enabled, turn it off so you can manually select the codec after the link is parsed. After pasting your video link and parsing it, choose H.264 as the codec in the download options.
Try a different media player. If you’ve already downloaded a file with no sound or image, try opening it with a player that supports more codecs, such as VLC Media Player (it’s free, cross-platform, and supports both H.264 and AV01).
